What I did this Week: a graduation, promotion, and a reunion.

This past week my the first week of summer vacation for my younger brothers. And it was a busy week.

Monday I finished my cousin's graduation dress; which I would dare say is the greatest thing I have ever sewn.

Wednesday, I decided to try this concoction after working out, and it was not bad.

Thursday, most of my family and I drove up to Denton for my cousin's graduation. Her and one of my brothers recreated an old photo in the front yard. Sadly, I do not have the original, but the recreation is still funny.

Then, in the evening, we went to her graduation.

A body has to admit, we are a pretty super looking bunch. ;)

On Friday, we drove to ALERT to my brother's promotion from Basic Training. After nine weeks of him being gone, it was great to see him again.

And so went my week!

What I did this Week: easter is over

There is in me, right now, a strong urge to begin this post with a sarcasm-loaded homily about the holiday we just celebrated. I feel though, that I cannot write it without verging on irreverence. So I am going to skip for now and probably ever.

Anyhow, Sunday, we celebrated the Resurrection of our Savior. After going to church, my younger siblings hunted for Easter eggs.

Monday, one of my brothers built a castle out of sand and Dixie cups.

Then he saw fit to protect it from his younger brothers.

Wednesday, I wrote a letter to my brother who is off at ALERT.

Thursday, I tried making orange monkey-bread, and it was okay.

Friday, I made up a recipe for chicken and potato soup that turned out pretty good.

And today I made a lot of bubble tea for my brothers and I.

And so went my week!

For this I am Thankful

Now that I have posted the obligatory food picture so that people will actually click on my blog post link, here are the things I am thankful for this year.

The Grace of God and Salvation through Christ, because without Him everything else on this list would be pointless.

That I am not a teenager. Hormones stink.

  For turkey.

  And leftovers.

And siblings who smile at me until I share my leftovers with them.

For my whole family. Kudos to this group of people for putting up with me for decades.

That I got to go to Chicago and spend time with some amazing friends.

That I got to volunteer at ALERT and work with a wonderful group of girls.

  That Christmas is almost here.

  For the color plaid.

  For Big Bend National Park.

That I realized my addiction to caffeine and I now know how to compensate for it (which is basically to drink a ton of coffee).

That for this year I have been given the good sense and the will to journal more.

That Star Wars: The Force Awakens is coming out in less then a month.

For Jon Foreman's incredible new EP set.

That Andrew Peterson released a new album this year.

And with that being said, I will leave you with this song.

Another Fall Post

I did not put much thought into the title of this post, obviously. But it least it is not a clichéd fall blog post, just a photo-heavy one because I decided to sling my camera over my back when I went for a walk this afternoon.

And here's a song that seems to go well with fall.

What I did this Week: Family Camp 2015

This past week was spent by my family and I at Family Camp. And here are some of my favorite pictures I took in no particular order.
I watched many volleyball games

And a really fun play.

At the end of the week I came home with a shirt covered in signatures.

What I did this Week: some thoughts from bath-houses

This past week, I volunteered during the Family Conference at ALERT. Sadly, I did not take many pictures because I was working. So instead, I will just write some thoughts about cleaning bath-houses since that is what I did.

It does not matter how pretty a person's hair is when it is on their head, they need to clean it out of the drain after they have taken a shower.

Flush the toilet. Please, just do.

If you are a big girl, clean up after yourself.

Personal items left in the bath-house, no. Just no.

Soap left lying around does not clean the surrounding area. I think it actually attracts bacteria.

Oh, and hair in the sink, clean that up too.

It is not that hard to pick up paper you dropped on the floor.

When there are signs on the door stating members of the opposite sex are present, please regard them, more for our sake then for yours.

All that makes cleaning bath-houses sound much worse than it is. At the end of the day, it was not that bad. Hosing down floors, squeegeeing mirrors, restocking paper goods, stepping out into the sunshine every five minutes, a body can learn to enjoy it. At the same time, you can learn things about your fellow human beings you may not have realized you did not really want to know.

And that was part of my week at least.

Adventures in the Damp

Yesterday I went for a walk and took some pictures. That is all.
