Thoughts After Being off the Internet for Ten Days

I have to start this blogpost by saying, I never intended to go off the internet for any extended period of time. It just happened that way. The Thursday before last, my family and I went to the beach. It was gorgeous and I got to take some pretty cool pictures (I thought anyways). When we got home I uploaded my photographs to my laptop and planned to blog them later in the evening. At about 5:30 pm I got on the computer and the internet was down. And it stayed down for ten days. During that time I:
  • Learned the sun comes up without the help of the internet. Well, I knew this, but it was a good reminder.
  • Realized I like cookbooks.
  • Got to rediscover the wonders of Lord of the Rings when I started Fellowship of the Ring again.
  • Remembered that I do not really have control of my life, God does.
  • Got sick and came to grips with just how human I am.
  • Got better and tasted again how good food is.
  • Found out I do not need my blog to motivate me to write. I just have to write.
  • Was glad I bought Jon Foreman's EPs the week before.
  • Realized I can get a lot done without the internet.
So now I am (obviously) back on the internet, but I am on the internet with the knowledge that it is not really necessary.
